In general
- getting the permission of the venue for using fire (to be done with venue-liason)
- doing a risk assessment of the space for fire (dangers, risks, what should be done to mitigate them) … do a site visit, and have a keen eye for things that can blow up, basically :)
- obtaining safety equipment: fire extinguishers, blankets
- be super-anal about safety
- being present whilst any fire is in use,
- accountable/responsible for anything vaguely hot that you've organised for the whole night
For a fireshow
- getting performers together, put on a routine, or organise an open-stage
- getting enthusiastic fire-spotters if you're doing a fire show
- sort out some barriers between the performers and the crowd
- being super-anal about safety
For a fire sculpture
- @ted, kat, what happened to last year? what did you have to do with the venue to bring your fire kettles to the venue?
- be super-anal about safety
